WHY HANDMADE SOAP?
There is a big difference in product quality when you compare the “soap” you buy in grocery stores to
the handmade soap you purchase from most independent soap crafters. Do not let the mass
production companies who stock your local market fool you by using the words “beauty bar” or
“family bar” on their products packaging. This does not mean it's better for you or your skin. In
actuality a large portion of the "soap" products you buy in the grocery store, are not soap at all. The
manufacturers use the above terms because they cannot legally use the term "soap" when referring to
their products.
"Beauty bars" and "family bars" are synthetic detergents filled with harsh chemicals. Also
most, if not all, of these "soaps" have had the natural emollient glycerin removed. Why?
Because they extract the glycerin, a natural by product of soap making, and resell it for profit,
there is no glycerin, or very little, in these bars by the time they hit the store shelves.
What is glycerin? Glycerin is a humectant that is created during the soap making process,
which attracts moisture to the skin. Since the glycerin has been removed from these "beauty
bars" and "family bars" they will cause your skin to feel dry and itchy after use, and repeated
use can cause irritation and damage to your skin over time.
All handmade soaps from Maryam's Soap Nook contain glycerin and leave the skin moisturized, soft
and silky. There are no detergents, harsh chemicals, or other skin-damaging ingredients used in
creating my soaps.
All of Maryam's Soap Nook's handmade soaps are made from the finest palm oil, emu oil, olive
oil, coconut oil, olive oil, shea butter, cocoa butter, goat milk, and vitamin E. They are also
superfatted (extra oils and butters have been added to further moisturizing benefits) with a
variety of healing oils and butters such as meadowfoam oil karanja oil, monoi de tahiti oil,
sweet almond oil, castor oil, sunflower oil, wheat germ oil, calendula oil, evening primrose oil,
avocado oil, avocado butter , cocoa butter and shea butter. The further addition of the
highest quality of herbal infused oils, essential oils and fragrance oils will leave each bar with
a long lasting luxurious smell that is very moisturizing for your skin.
As a responsible crafter my creations are made one small batch at a time. With each purchase
you are getting a bar of soap created with the finest quality ingredients. You can be rest
assured that each bar has also been created out of love, inspired by and for the love of one sweet
